Rock the Block is Coming to Your Neighborhood on Friday, April 17th!

Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity’s Rock the Block brings together homeowners, volunteers, and community sponsors to provide painting, landscaping, and maintenance to local neighborhoods.

This volunteer-driven program is part of Greater Matthews Habitat’s neighborhood preservation efforts, helping boost health, safety, community pride, and property values—all at no cost to participating residents.

What is Rock the Block?

Bringing together homeowners, volunteers, and community/corporate sponsors, Rock the Block is part of Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity’s neighborhood preservation efforts, offering minor exterior services to local residents.

Who is Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity?
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with families to build and improve places to call home through affordable homeownership, critical home repairs, and neighborhood maintenance programs like as Rock the Block.

Why was my neighborhood selected?
Your neighborhood was selected because it’s a strong match for what Rock the Block is all about—bringing neighbors together to celebrate community pride and enhance what already makes this area special. With input from the Town of Matthews, we focus on neighborhoods where volunteers can work side-by-side with residents to make a visible, positive impact across multiple homes at once.

Are these services really free?
Yes! Thanks to a partnership with the Town of Matthews, the Town of Mint Hill, and the support of generous volunteers, Rock the Block services are provided at no cost to residents.

Can I participate as a Rock the Block volunteer?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to join our volunteers while they work on your home, or—if you don’t need services—you can help out on a neighbor’s home. For more details, contact Liz at liz@habitatmatthews.org for more info.
