Interfaith & Community Build
And so it begins! Our first-ever Interfaith & Community Build is underway! Last weekend we hosted our first volunteer faith group from our Welcome Home Partner, St. Stephen United Methodist Church, who worked alongside our Construction Team and our future homeowner, Natalie, to install the wall sheathing on the first level of the house. It was great to see some familiar faces, and some new ones, out swinging hammers.
Once we get through the holidays, we plan to quickly move into the framing and sheathing of the second story and will welcome out even more volunteers from both our Faith Partners and Community Partners, as well as the Greater Matthews community at large.
There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in this build, whether it's as a build volunteer, helping out to provide lunches for the hungry team, or contributing financially to help construction costs. Thanks to the generosity of our existing partners, 70% of this home has been funded - but that means we still need to raise $30,000 to finish out construction and close on the home this spring.
