In 2016, Greater Matthews Habitat lost one of our own, Sandy Marano, to breast cancer. Each year, we choose to honor her memory and dedication to our mission by hosting a Memorial Women Build in her name. The Women Build is a national initiative where women across the country partner with their local Habitat locations to recruit, educate and nurture women to build – and advocate for – simple, decent and affordable houses in their communities.

Sandy was truly dedicated to our mission to serve families in need of safe, affordable homes, and in her role as Family Services Coordinator she was the staff person most closely linked to those we help. She loved “her” families and the job she did to help them reach their goal of home ownership. She was well known in the community and an inspiration to many.
