Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter in the Matthews, Mint Hill, and Stallings areas of NC.
By partnering with limited-income families, volunteers, and community sponsors, Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity provides decent, affordable homes for their community.
Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity is currently the only affordable home builder in the town of Matthews.
Escalating housing costs and a shortage of affordable entry-level homes and apartments in Matthews, Mint Hill, and Stallings has become a critical issue for limited-income families. Since 2017, the only homes built for less than $200k in Matthews were by Greater Matthews Habitat. Lack of access to affordable housing forces families to decide between having a decent place to live and other expenses such as healthy, nutritious food or taking their child to the doctor when they are sick.
